Snowbirds Guide to Florida Boat Rentals

Your Guide for Renting a Boat in Florida

Enjoy Florida Like a True Floridian … On a Boat!

When the rest of the country is white from snow, Florida looks, well, exactly the same as it did in the summer: blue and green everywhere. The sunshine state is pretty much without seasons and not a whole lot changes when winter approaches, except traffic of course. Sunshine is the reason the state receives so many visitors in the winter. So, what’s the best way to take advantage of the sunshine? Boating.

Boatsetter is a boat sharing company that makes it easy for snowbirds, tourists and locals to rent a boat for a half or full day. The reservations are made 100 percent online, including payment. Learn more about how it works.

Steps for Securing a Boat Rental

Boatsetter is a hassle-free way to enjoy the ocean. Making a reservation is easy and painless. In just a few steps you can be on your way to the boat docks to load up your half or full day rental.

Step 1: Search for Your Boat Rental

Log on to and type in the name of the city where you wish to rent a boat (you can log on from a mobile device or desktop, but the instructions below are for a desktop view). The results page features several filters that allow you to narrow your search. Using the sliders on the left of the page and the button on the top, toggle the filters on and off, depending on your preferences. You can filter your search by:

  • Captain preference (with or without a captain)
  • Type of boat (powerboat, sailboat)
  • Number of passengers (choose from 1 to more than 13)
  • Length of the boat (up to 110 feet)
  • Price ($100 – $10,000)

The “more filters” button on the left opens up additional filters, including:

  • Rental period (half or full day)
  • Activities (cruising, fishing, sailing, ski boat, water skiing, dining, paddling, sightseeing, snorkeling)

It is important to note that the more filters you apply the smaller the results will be. It is best practice to choose the filters you absolutely cannot live without. For example, if there are six people in your family you absolutely need a boat with at least a capacity of six. Therefore, you should apply the filter for the passenger count during your search.

Step 2: Review Your Results

When the results are narrowed based on your filter you can use the map or scroll from the detail results page to review the list. Clicking on an image will open the detail page that includes the specs of the boat and a description. From this page you can also read about your captain, if applicable, and view reviews from other customers.

Step 3: Make Your Reservation

When you’ve found the perfect boat rental add the desired date and time in the box at the top right and click, “continue.” At this point in the process you can follow the prompts to sign up for an account and make a payment.

Benefits of Using Boatsetter

Your reservation with Boatsetter is eligible for cancellation up to 24 hours in advance, giving you the flexibility you need to account for party cancellations or bad weather. In addition, all of our boats are insured and our captains are certified by the United States Coast Guard.
